Emerald is this year’s colour!

Last year, it seemed like orange was everywhere. It was all thanks to Pantone, the printing company that has become well known for its much publicised choice for Color of the Year. Last year’s hue was Tangerine Tango.
This year’s newly crowned colour? Emerald (#17-5641, to be exact), a lively, radiant, lush green that Pantone describes as the colour of growth, renewal, and prosperity.

So why is 2013 a Green kind of year?
“Green is the most abundant hue in nature — the human eye sees more green than any other in the spectrum,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”
It might seem bold, but it is actually quite versatile. It lends itself to a variety of feels, from  traditional to funky and edgy. Commitment-phobes can give it a try with accessories like throw pillows, vases, or accent walls. Daring ones should try a velvet chair or sofa for the ultimate punch of colour.
