We know that shopping for a new sofa can feel overwhelming.
With so many options, conflicting advice, and pricing all over the map… It can be challenging to know where to even start.
To make things simple, we’ve compiled a list of our top 3 sofa frames – each at a different starting price (along with why they made the list.)
Keep in mind that we do prioritize quality and longevity in our sofa frames, so our entry level price point still boasts hardwood frames, web and coil spring systems, and bench made construction. While we do have access to sofas at a lower price point, we generally recommend most of our clients to invest a little more for this type of purchase (especially for a piece you will be using regularly) in order to get the best value long term.
All of these sofa frames are also made locally in Toronto, so the prices are unaffected by any import fees, shipping, or exchange rates.

This collection is a staple in our showroom for a few reasons: the sheer versatility both in arm styles as well as variety of sectional components, and the fantastic price point for the quality. With 15 arm styles and 3 leg options, most people would be hard pressed to not find a combination that works for their home. We also love the option to swap out the feather wrapped cushions for those who desire a firmer sit or who have allergies.
The medium seat depth accommodates most people and most rooms, making this a great choice for a wide variety of shoppers.

Mid $$$: Gene

- Why we love it:
- Extra deep (24”) seat – perfect for lounging
- Envelope style cushions and slipcover for relaxed look
- Huge selection of sectional components
- Style: Transitional, Casual
- Who it’s for: Taller folks or those who love to curl up into their sofa
- Construction features
- Kiln dried hardwood frame
- Web & coil spring system
- Luxury feather wrap blend
- Also available as a non-slipcovered version
- Starting at: $3,800
Anyone who has been in our showroom over the past 7 or so years knows Gene. We’ve had this model as a sofa and sectional in several different fabrics over the years and it continues to be a best seller for us. This frame boasts an extra deep seat for lounging and curling up with the family on movie night. We would not recommend this sofa for anyone who likes to sit upright or has mobility issues (they may have trouble getting in and out), or most tight spaces as the 42” overall depth takes up a decent sized footprint even as a loveseat.
Aesthetically, the soft slope arms, envelope style back cushions, and skirted slipcover give the Gene its relaxed, casual vibe.
The Gene is available in over 300 fabrics and a over a dozen leathers (although we would never recommend a leather slipcover… while possible, the look is not our favourite) and made in Toronto.

High $$$$ : Tribeca

- Why we love it:
- 3 arm styles (slope, wedge, or track)
- 3 seat depths (21”, 22”, or 23”)
- Choice of soft, medium, or firm seating
- Style: Transitional or Contemporary
- Who it’s for: Anyone wanting refined and top of the line construction.
- Construction features:
- Frame made from combination of engineered and solid wood
- High density Qualux foam seating with fibre wrapping
- Feather blend backs
- Starting at: $4,600
The Tribeca is newer to our floor, but has already been a hit. We chose this model as an addition to our showroom as it offers a slightly more refined overall style than many of our other sofa frames, including the other two on our list. What gives this frame it’s elegant appeal is both the delicate arm styles (we especially love the slope arm, and that’s what you’ll see on our showroom floor currently) and the shallower deck (the fabric covered portion directly under the seat), which allows for a taller exposed leg – giving the frame an overall sophistication.
Multiple seat depth and firmness options is another reason Tribeca makes it into our top 3, offering versatility for clients of varying heights or with different comfort preferences is a huge win in our books. Add to this a longstanding reputation for quality, the Tribeca by Vogel is a fantastic option for those who have a little more room in their budget and want a sofa that will last decades.
The Tribeca is available in hundreds of fabrics and a curated selection of premium leathers and is made in Toronto.
